What We Do | Innovative By Instinct | History | Biographies
Investors Title writes and supports the issuance of title insurance policies through our two subsidiaries - Investors Title Insurance Company and National Investors Title Insurance Company. We also coordinate searches, title products and closing services for commercial services customers. In addition to title insurance, we are a qualified intermediary in connection with § 1031 exchanges of like-kind property.
We adopted the Canada goose as our corporate symbol because it embodies the qualities we believe are necessary to be proactive and successful in this business. Just as this goose exhibits instinctive behaviors of innovation, teamwork and leadership by their v-formation, we too incorporate these qualities in the way we do business. Our Investors Title team has initiated a number of time-saving practices for lenders, agents and our insured. We've streamlined and refined forms and procedures, promoted the use of new coverages, provided expedited underwriting solutions for our customers, and designed technological solutions tailored to meet our customers' specific needs.
Investors Title Company, National Investors Title Company's parent company, was founded by J. Allen Fine and wrote its first policy in April 1972. Fine personally conducted a pre-incorporation offering of the Company's stock with individual investors, and successfully raised the funds necessary to capitalize a title insurance underwriter. Although title insurance dates back to the late 1800s, the volume of title insurance written remained quite low through the early 1970s when compared to today's market. Fine's research led him to anticipate a landmark increase in the demand for title insurance, as mortgage lenders would begin to sell their mortgages on the secondary market. As a result of vision and diligence, Investors has consistently achieved above average profitability. This ongoing proactive view of future demands and trends has trademarked our success and ensured an ongoing expansion from our original North Carolina base to points beyond.
